It’s much easier to fight the winter blahs when a Stitch Fix on door step. I had fun with this latest fix, which had some hits and some misses. Read on to see what I got, what I sent back, what I kept and what went wrong in this February Stitch Fix review.
But first . . . new to Stitch Fix?
If you’re unfamiliar with Stitch Fix, it’s a clothing subscription service that sends you a box of 5 items that a stylist selects for you based on a few things, including a questionnaire that includes questions about your style, size, and budget preferences, what you want and what you don’t want, as well as your Pinterest board and requests you make with each fix. The stylists selects five items (tops, bottoms, dresses, accessories, coats, shoes etc.) and mail them to your door, so you can try them on at home and see how they work with pieces you already have in your closet. You have three days to try them before sending back any you don’t wish to keep in the enclosed, prepaid mailer.
There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order, and that is charged whether you keep any items or not. If you keep all five items, you get a 25% discount on everything. You are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix.
Annabelle Ribbed Detail Open Cardigan by Laju
This is a very dark plum, and I wasn’t sure about the color at first but it grew on me over the three days. I loved how soft it was and that it works wonderfully over leggings and skinny jeans. It was definitely on the pricey side but I’ve worn it quite often since I received it, so I think it was a worthwhile purchase.
I liked the different textures, and this photo gives you an idea of the color, which I’m not thinking isn’t quite plum after all.
Verdict: Kept
Quinn Stone Collar Necklace by Bay to Baubles
I really liked this necklace – big enough to make a statement, but not too large or overpowering. Also, not too heavy. I hate when collar necklaces feel like armor.
Verdict: Kept. I even wore today when traveling and even got compliments on it from both a TSA employee and a flight attendant. Great! Except by the time I got to my destination, two of the stones had fallen out. It was not a turbulent flight and I certainly didn’t do anything rugged or engage in any unusual conduct. I’m going to follow up with Stitch Fix customer service.
Ari Lace Up Cable Detail Turtleneck by Black Tape
I asked for a cozy yet stylish winter sweater. I thought this was cute but unfortunately, it did not look great on me. There was something weird about the fit and the cut – it was boxy and just me in all the wrong places. For that price, it needs to fit like a glove and make me look great. Sadly, this did neither, but I think on someone taller, it could be great.
Verdict: Returned
Isles Henley Blouse by Skies Are Blue
I really wanted to love this shirt. The color was lovely. They way it looked on me, however, made it clear that it wasn’t meant to be.
Karen Printed Straight Leg Pant by Erica Taylor
Polka dot pants. Huh. I wasn’t sure when I took them out of the box, and my teen daughter was nearly aghast. When I put them on, though, we both liked them more than we thought. In fact, my daughter was downright supportive of them. However, I was not quite as sold. They’re just not me.
Verdict: Returned
There were photos of me in the items, but they have mysteriously disappeared. I apologize. However, please trust me when I say that you aren’t missing much when it comes to ill-fitting shirts. This is a sign from the universe that the world just isn’t meant to see me in polka dot pants. I’ll do better next time, I promise!
