Happy news: Favorite recent articles that made me smile

Table of Contents

It’s been a rough week with the tragic news from Manchester as well as some tragic stories in my own backyard. In the past few days, there have also been some very heartwarming pieces that have made me smile and left me feeling heartened.

I love reminders of the good there is in the world. In case you’d like a few, here are my favorite recent articles  They’re also good ones to share with your kids, because sharing a laugh is even better.

Happy News: favorite recent articles that made me smile

Favorite School Yearbook Photo

It’s the time of year when school yearbooks are distributed, and this story of a high schooler’s service dog being included in the yearbook made my heart happy. A good reminder that the kids are all right, and a cute dog to boot!

Connecting with Mr. Rogers

Any story involving Mr. Rogers is most likely going to be heartwarming, given his amazingly kind personality. This one, about a young man’s encounter with him, is particularly poignant and special. I’m going to carry the phrase “sometimes you’re right where you need to be” with me far into the future.

Warning: There may be some tears, but they’re the good kind.

Connecting with Roger Moore

The news of Roger Moore’s passing at the age of 89 was sad, but the anecdote about a man’s two encounters with him a few decades apart is now among my all-time favorite celebrity encounters. You can read it here.

Parental Embarrassment at its Finest

If you need a laugh, this dad is here to help. This is perhaps the greatest approach to picking up a teen from school in history.
