What is Museum Day Live?
Museum Day Live! an annual event that takes place this year on September 24, 2016. It’s a wonderful opportunity for you to explore the amazing museums and cultural institutions near you with free admission.
Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Magazine that is “an annual celebration of boundless curiosity” that makes it possible for people to check visit participating museums and cultural institutions for free.
One Museum Day Live! ticket gets two people into the museum or institution for free. It’s worth noting that special exhibits, IMAX movies and parking are not included.

There are dozens of museums in Illinois on the list, including the Adler Planetarium, Chicago History Museum and Morton Arboretum, which are all big hits with my family.
As an added bonus, a few museums listed on the website as participating are new to me. I thought I knew about all the museums in the area, but clearly I was wrong.

The ticket is good for general admission for ticket holder and one guest.
